Feb 1st, 2014 - Process Chart Feb 20th, 2014 - Started Studying Headfirst PMP(After a Work Day) Feb 21st, 2014 - Finished Studying Headfirst PMP Feb 22nd, 2014 - Practice Exam Feb 23rd, 2014 - Exam Date @ 1:30 PM - PASSED *CONGRATULATIONS* Feb 1st,2014 - The only focus of the day was to memorize the processes/Knowledge Area Chart and to devise a methodology and to create an Excel Worksheet to easily refer to the ITTO. (I decided early on that I will not be memorizing the ITTO entirely and my focus for ITTO would be Integration Management Processes, Procurement Processes, Quality Processes, Risk Processes. ![]() My focus was to familiarize myself with all the main terms and definitions and Head First does an amazing job at this.More on this later) End of Day: Chart Created with main outputs and Memorized(Numerical Memory Aid created - I will talk more about it in a future post), Excel Worksheet created, Feb 20th, 2014 5 PM - I looked at notes made on Feb 1st and did a memory dump of the chart to make sure I remember it. 6 PM - I started Head First PMP and looked at the first 3 chapter taking notes. I will publish these notes in later posts but really this were main ideas which I wanted to look at on Feb 23rd morning to give myself the confidence that I know all the topics. I then started Integration Management and I was diligent in doing the Head First exercises to make sure the ideas stick in my head. I spent a lot of time trying to remember the ITTO for Integration Management processes using memory aids and other creative ways but then decided that the best way would be focus on the flow of process and understand them. 12: 30 AM - Quality Management Needless to say I had spent an enormous time trying to do the obvious(memorize ITTO) but this was not going to work for my timelines. So my goal was to focus solely on concepts, keywords, terminology and definitions. I relied on my Excel Worksheet to navigate through ITTO when I had confusion, so having it all in one place helped me get clarification quickly and I could focus on my goal of rather than getting bogged down by ITTO and at the same time I was gaining understanding of ITTO when I referred to them. 4: 00 AM - Sleep time(I decided to get a 8 hour sleep because the next 2 days are going to be intense with my aim being at least 3 exams on Saturday i.e 12 hours of just exams) Feb 21st, 2014 12: PM - Risk Management My priority was Quality, Risk, Procurement so I was going in that order. Risk is an important topic with a great amount of details but Head First PMP made this a breeze. I told my brain we are going to have fun and promised it not to touch the PMBOX except only for reference purpose. Hats off to the Head First PMP Team for making it soo much fun with memory aids, chunking and all sorts of fun exercises to memorize Risk Register details and how it updates as we go through Qualitative, Quantitative and Plan Risk Response processes. I had the entire chapter summarized and exercises done correctly in no time. This was the first time in my life that I felt soo good about Risk:) I will upload my notes in a later post but my notes were simply memory aids to the knowledge which was cemented in my brain through Head First PMP exercises. 2 PM - Procurement I went through all the details about Make vs. Buy and made sure I knew that this happens in Plan Procurement Management process. Knowing the main processes and their outputs helps as it will always help in answering questions about what happens next. I looked at types of Contracts and the large number of TT in Conduct Procurement, Control Procurement and Close Procurement. I used the exercises to clarify concepts when I had confusion. I was having a lot of fun. 3:15 Lunch Break 3 PM - Stakeholder 3:30 PM - Time Management 5:30 PM - Cost Management 6:30 PM - HR Management 7:15 PM - Communication 8 PM Break 9 PM - Scope 10 PM PMI Code 10:15 PM - I spent time doing everything in Chapter 15 - Check your knowledge. Process Magnet, Process Cross, Exercise, Sharpen your pencil and then all the knowledge area specific questions. My notes for revision were ready 2. I had done all the Check you knowledge challenges This gave me enormous confidence that I was ready.
